It was a gorgeous day out as he walked with four of his friends down the street. He felt this exhilarating commoraderie as they joked and laughed with each other making rude and lude comments about passers-by.
Then he saw her. A young lady whose weight was just a bit more than is socially acceptable for her height. "Yes!" He thought, "Check this out." Then he blurted out a joke about obese people he heard on a talk show and laughed so hard, tears streamed from his eyes.
Perhaps if he hadn't found the joke so funny, he would have noticed the young lady approaching him. But he did, so he didn't, and she beat him unmercifully, finally stopping when she tired of hitting and kicking him.
As he lay in the gutter eyes still streaming, but now from pain, his friends stood back looking at him thoroughly unimpressed.
