He struggled everyday inside himself,
"What is my problem?"
he asked himself.
He hadn't felt inadequate before...
before...
before Susan,
and her demands.
When he defined himself
by himself
everything was O.K.
Now Susan is here.
She defines herself by him
and his success.
And so far he has swallowed it.
When he does something and everything
works fine
she is as happy as can be.
When he does something and fails
he spends more time tending to her
depression over the failure than
he does his own.
She is a burden, he knows now,
and somehow, somewhere he finds the
strength to let her go.
As much for her sake as for his,
he just hopes she'll be alright
because he still cares about her.
